Sleeper Alert: Harvard Crimson

The Harvard Crimson are looking like a perennial Cinderella squad this year, amassing an impressive 11-1 record to date. The only blemish on the record came on the road against a now ranked foe in the Colorado Buffaloes. And to boot, it was only an 8 point defeat. Nevertheless the Crimson are a team to watch this season, and have beaten several decent teams such as the Green Bay Phoenix, Bryant University Bulldogs, TCU Horned Frogs, Boston University Terriers, Fordham Rams, etc…

Those teams might not be to your fancy, but the Crimson are winning and show no signs of slowing down. Led by a steady attack, and contributions from everyone, it’s easy to see why the Crimson are racking up the wins. They have five players averaging 8.9 points or more per game, four players averaging 5.0 rebounds or more per game, and three players averaging 4.0 assists or more per game. The junior guard/forward Wesley Sanders leads the Crimson, averaging a team high of 15.1 points per game, 5.3 rebounds per game, and 4.0 assist per game.

The Crimson may not have your respect yet, but a tough game upcoming on the schedule might help that cause. On January 8th, the Crimson will be on the road against the 15th ranked Connecticut Huskies. This will be a big opportunity to land a signature win to resume for March, especially considering that the Ivy Conference isn’t really that competitive minus Princeton.
