The Missouri Valley conference tournament is underway and is headlined by two juggernauts in the Wichita St. Shockers and Northern Iowa Panthers. It’s most likely going to come down to them, which would make for a highly anticipated third game. There would be a lot on the line too, as a win over one another creates a bump in where they might get ranked in the NCAA tournament. As for the competition, I only see the Indiana St. Sycamores and Illinois St. Redbirds being any competition to the top dogs. However, I don’t think any of them can get it done.
As for a prediction, I’m going with the Wichita St. Shockers. It’s a really tough call because of how good the Northern Iowa Panthers are, but I like how many scoring options the Shockers have. The Panthers have a bunch of guys that contribute, but only one real go to guy in Seth Tuttle. The Shockers have Ron Baker, Fred Van Fleet, Darius Carter and Tekele Cotton who can all take over a game. I worry though for both teams come the NCAA tournament due to their size. They make it up with their defense, but that will only work in the Missouri Valley conference. Come tournament time, I fear a team is going to bully them in second chance points. That neither here nor their though, these teams are seasoned and are where they are because they deserved to be. The Shockers take this tournament and use their experience to make a run in the NCAA tournament, book it!
