ACC Tournament Prediction

The ACC second round continues today with four contests on slate. The 8th seeded Clemson Tigers will tangle with the 9th seeded Florida St. This should be a fairly competitive game, with the top seeded Virginia Cavaliers awaiting the winner. The 5th seeded North Carolina Tar Heels face off against the 12th seeded Boston College Eagles, who overcame a late deficit against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets to get here. The winner faces the 4th seeded Louisville Cardinals. The third game on the tab features the 7th seeded North Carolina State Wolfpack against the 10th seeded Pittsburgh Panthers, who are on a three game skid at the wrong time. However, the Wolfpack caught fire towards the end of the season, winning their last 5 of 6 including two big road wins over the Louisville Cardinals and North Carolina Tar Heels. The winner will face the 3rd seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Lastly, the 6th seeded Miami (FL) Hurricanes will look to beat the 14th seeded Virginia Tech Hokies for the third time this season. The Hokies looked great offensively against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, not only shooting at a high clip of .484%, but committing only 4 turnovers and shooting 92.9% at the charity stripe.

As for the prediction, I got the Duke Blue Devils. They are winners of 11 straight, with wins over the Virginia Cavaliers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and North Carolina Tar Heels twice. I love me a hot handed team down the stretch anytime in these tournaments. It not only shows an ability to win, but that the team’s chemistry is on point. The starting five are all studs and can take a game over at any given night. With Justin Anderson’s status in the air for the Cavaliers, I’m siding with the Blue Devils winning the ACC tournament.
