Big South Conference Tournament Predictions

The Big South Conference Tournament is underway, as No. 8 Longwood Lancers have already knocked off the No. 9 Charleston Southern Buccaneers. Also, the #7 Radford Highlanders are currently battling the #10 Presbyterian Blue Hose. However, neither of those results will matter in predictions, despite that according to KenPom, the Big South Conference ranked number one in Close game% (<4 pts or OT) at 31.3%. Anyways, the Big South Conference Tournament schedule are as follows…

Opening Round: March 3 (Big South Network)
Game 1: No. 9 Charleston Southern Buccaneers 69, No. 8 Longwood Lancers 75
Game 2: No. 10 Presbyterian Blue Hose vs. No. 7 Radford Highlanders
Game 3: No. 11 Campbell Fighting Camels vs. No. 6 Gardner-Webb Bulldogs

Quarterfinals: March 4 (ESPN3)
Game 4: No. 8 Longwood Lancers vs. No. 1 High Point Panthers
Game 5: No. 5 Liberty Flames vs. No. 4 UNC Asheville Bulldogs
Game 6: Winner Game 2 vs. No. 2 Winthrop Eagles
Game 7: Winner Game 3 vs. No. 3 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers

Semifinals: March 5 (ESPN3)
Game 8: Winner Game 4 vs. Winner Game 5
Game 9: Winner Game 6 vs. Winner Game 7

Championship: March 6 (ESPN2)
Game 10: Winner Game 8 vs. Winner Game 9

Prediction: I think this is a two team race between the No. 1 High Point Panthers and No. 2 Winthrop Eagles. The Panthers are enjoying recent success, as they have reeled off their second consecutive twenty win season. The Eagles are look to erase back to back Big South Conference Tournament Finals defeats, as they hope the third consecutive year is the charm. I’m going to say it is and even though they split in their previous two meetings, the Eagles handled the Panthers at home and nearly beat them on the road. The Eagles are also the hotter team, heading in with a 12-2 record in their last fourteen games. I like their high powered offense and I think they get over the hump this year.
