Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament Predictions

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference is underway, as the No. 9 Quinnipiac Bobcats are currently losing to the No. 8 Rider Broncs. I’m a bit surprised how bad the Broncs were in conference because they nearly beat the top seeded Monmouth Hawks and had the Maryland Terrapins in serious trouble. I guess that doesn’t translate though and they certainly won’t be my prediction to win it. Anyways, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament schedule are as follows…

First Round: March 3
Game 1: No. 9 Quinnipiac Bobcats vs. No. 8 Rider Broncs
Game 2: No. 10 Niagara Purple Eagles vs. No. 7 Canisius Golden Griffins
Game 3: No. 11 Marist Red Foxes vs. No. 6 Manhattan Jaspers

Quarterfinals: March 4 (ESPN3)
Game 4: Winner Game 1 vs. No. 1 Monmouth Hawks
Game 5: Winner Game 2 vs. No. 2 Iona Gaels

Quarterfinals: March 5 (ESPN3)
Game 6: Winner Game 3 vs. No. 3 Siena Saints
Game 7: No. 5 St. Peter’s Peacocks vs. No. 4 Fairfield Stags

Semifinals: March 6 (ESPN3)
Game 8: Winner Game 4 vs. Winner Game 7
Game 9: Winner Game 5 vs. Winner Game 6

Championship: March 7 (ESPN)
Game 10: Winner Game 8 vs. Winner Game 9

Prediction: I can’t say that I won’t be rooting for the Monmouth Hawks bench to keep going, so I’m just going to lock em in as my prediction to win the MAAC Tournament. There is a legit threat though in my opinion and it’s the Iona Gaels. The same Gaels that went to Monmouth and destroyed them. It’s a shame that the Gaels lost their guard Schadrac Casimir for the season because if this team was healthy, their offense would of been insane. However, the Monmouth Hawks have something magical going and I currently believe they are an At-large team, but winning the MAAC Tournament would erase any of that drama that would come if they lose ala Murray St. Racers.
