Colonial Athletic Association Tournament Predictions

The Colonial Athletic Association Tournament’s opening round commences today with a pair of games. The No. 9 Drexel Dragons do battle with the No. 8 Elon Phoenix, while the No. 10 Delaware Blue Hens take on the No. 7 College of Charleston Cougars. I actually like what the Cougars bring to table defensively, which can be noted when they shut down the LSU Tigers. In that game, they held the consensus number one overall draft pick Ben Simmons to a 4-15 shooting line, for only fifteen points. The Cougars though, are just too polar opposite for me to pick, as they have one of the best defenses and one the worst offenses. This should be a fun tournament to follow though, as I can see five different teams winning this. Anyways, the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament schedule are as follows…

Opening Round: March 4 (
Game 1: No. 9 Drexel Dragons vs. No. 8 Elon Phoenix
Game 2: No. 10 Delaware Fighting Blue Hens vs. No. 7 College of Charleston Cougars

Quarterfinals: March 5 (CSN)
Game 3: Winner Game 1 vs. No. 1 Hofstra Pride
Game 4: No. 5 William & Mary Tribe vs. No. 4 James Madison Dukes
Game 5: Winner Game 2 vs. No. 2 UNC Wilmington Seahawks
Game 6: No. 6 Northeastern Huskies vs. No. 3 Towson Tigers

Semifinals: March 6 (NBCSN)
Game 7: Winner Game 3 vs. Winner Game 4
Game 8: Winner Game 5 vs. Winner Game 6

Championship: March 7 (NBCSN)
Game 9: Winner Game 7 vs. Winner Game 8

Prediction: The Hofstra Pride have impressed me all season, which is why I’m going to side with them winning the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament. They are one of the more experienced teams in the nation and play both sides of the ball equally well. The only issue I have with the Pride, is their poor free throw shooting. I’m a stickler for a team that can take advantage of free points, so this pick is a little out of my element. However, they’ve won six in a row including beating the number two, three and four seeds in that span. I’m riding with the momentum here and siding with the Pride!
