As we draw closer to March Madness, I can’t help but to analyze each conference for teams either worth an At-large bid or one whom is on the bubble. Here, I examine the Sun Belt Conference, which according to KenPom is the 17th best conference. I can safely say that this is probably the best year the Sun Belt Conference has had in awhile. The Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans came out of no where, beating the likes of the San Diego St. Aztecs and Tulsa Golden Hurricanes on the road. The UT Artlington Mavericks also had some success, knocking off the likes of the Ohio St. Buckeyes and Memphis Tigers on the road. Obviously, the Sun Belt Conference is starting to garner some talented teams and it could possibly be represented by two teams in the NCAA Tournament…
Best Teams: Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans, UT Arlington Mavericks, UL Monore Warhawks, Louisiana Lafayette Ragin Cajuns
On The Bubble: Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans
Note: The Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans are undoubtedly a bubble team and are currently in the midst of playing in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. I firmly believe they need to win that said tournament, as the loss to the Appalachian St. Mountaineers to end the regular season, most likely has bounced them from At-large territory. It’s a mind boggling loss, one that will consistently be brought up as a reason they aren’t worthy. The Trojans need to get the job done in a much improved Sun Belt Conference and avoid the committee at all costs.
